Recently Satsports ventured into a new design and development area for mobile applications with the launch of their Tourism Vancouver City Smart application.
In 2007 while skiing in the French Alps Jean-Claude Baumgartner came across the opportunity to develop a ski GPS software system. His love for sport, creative thinking and vision to see the possibility to develop this product as the first interactive trail map began. How many people use a paper road map anymore? Over the following 2 years, the ski GPS software was named Satski, a standalone GPS released and continually improved (longer battery life, better screen, stronger GPS receiver), seeing the trend towards multifunctional mobile phones, a Windows Mobile app was released and continual research resulted in further useful and fun features being added to the ski app, such as, buddy tracking (find your friends) geo-tag photos.
In 2008 additional sport GPS apps were released, one called Pocket Caddy for golf and another called Satsports Log for running, cycling, hiking, mountain biking and walking. All applications unique in their own right.
In 2009 Jean-Claude presented a confident pitch on the UK TV show Dragons Den for investment during a Sport Relief special show to enable the business to grow internationally. He left the den with the investment he was looking for. Please meet the Dragon investors.
In the last 6 months Satsports has set up a head office in London UK, with distribution partners in Canada, Australia, and Europe. With the recent release of Satsports apps for iPhone and Blackberry, more sportspersons can enjoy Satsports. Retail sales have included Harrods, Dixon Travel and Maplin.
More recently Satsports ventured into a new design and development area for mobile applications with the launch of their Tourism Vancouver City Smart application. This part of the business will be featured in a new division and info will be available from www.mycitysmart.com.

Reason for investing in Satsports
I decided to invest in Satsports because I can see the huge potential in mobile
application downloads. I was also impressed in how far Jean-Claude had taken the
business in such a short space of time.

Satsports Multi-sports GPS: The first multi GPS for sport as well as being street navigation able. It comes pre loaded with all the Satsports apps and packed with a host of accessories so you are ready to jump on your bike as soon as it arrives.
Satski: Satski is a sophisticated piece of software, which has developed significantly over the past few years. As with all our software it will continue to be developed, with free upgrades for our customers, to keep up-to-date with phone technology and GPS trends. The most obvious difference with Satski from some other ski GPS systems is that we use the well-known artist impression piste/trail maps, not topographical maps which can often be difficult to use. Satski is the only ski GPS system with a navigation function and a range of live stats. One of the most popular features is that Satski allows you to watch a replay of your route on your phone or GPS, so you don’t have to wait until you get home to upload your data to your computer. But when you do upload your data we provide two ways to view your replay and stats; on the piste/trail map and in 3D with Google Earth. The apps also provides POIs on map with images, info and contact details.
Pocket Caddy: Pocket Caddy is a golf GPS app. Satsports has developed some unique DIY Course Plotting software so you can plot your own golf course, which is free for anyone to use, you just need to register for a Pocket Caddy membership.
Satsports Log: Satsports Log is for running, cycling, hiking, mountain biking and walking. This application includes sophisticated analytical pc tracking software.
Stats Viewer: Supporting software for all Satsports apps providing in depth analytics with graphs, charts, tables, lists, statistics, maps, and Google Earth replays.

ispo BrandNew Award: Satski was a proud Winner Finalist in the ispo Brand New Awards in winter 2009. Outstanding innovations and developments of young companies are awarded by an international jury of experts and presented at ispo.
CES Last Gadget Standing: The Satsports Multi-sport GPS was nominated with 24 other gadgets to appear in the Last Gadget Standing online competition, in connection with the Consumer Electronics Show 2010, where the public vote for their favourite gadget. Satsports was up against some of the biggest players such as Intel and Motorola but pulled in 8,779 votes, which put the Satsports Multi-sports GPS in 5th place.

The Gadget Show, Nov 08: The gadget geeks at Channel FIVE, Dallas Campbell and Jason Bradbury took on the Winter Challenge, which took place on the Austrian slopes of Soelden. Dallas took the original standalone Satski GPS and Jason used the SnowRanger software for a Garmin Oregon. Since the Garmin did not provide a navigational route, the Satski won in getting its user to their final destination first.

The Gadget Show, Nov 09: The Gadget Show aired a very interesting ski gadget show filmed in the Swiss resort of Sass Fee, revealing all the latest ski technologies for winter 09/10. Some products in the show included the North Face E-tip gloves, heated jackets from Mountain Hardware, the Head Black Magic Jacket built with d3o™ Intelligent Shock Absorption pads, and of course, the Satski application, but this year The Gadget Show decided to showcase the Android phone app version. Jason Bradbury tested a ski GPS app for the iPhone and Ortis Deley took the Satski app for his Android phone. Satski had won the battle before they even got on the slopes with Jason’s reference to the Satski app “Could we organise it that I use that one?”. However, the real navigational challenge using the ski GPS apps saw that Ortis won the race with Satski.

Dragons Den, Sport Relief special, Mar 10: In 2009 Jean-Claude presented a
confident pitch on the UK TV show Dragons Den for investment during a Sport
Relief special show which aired in Mar 10. Not only was Jean-Claude under the
pressure of having to enter the den and present his pitch but he was introduced to
British Record Holder 400m runner,
Iwan Thomas
minutes before his pitch and had to incorporate
Iwan into the presentation. Iwan was a great support and continues his support for
Satsports. Jean-Claude left the den with the investment he was looking for.
